Elizabeth House is a privately run children’s home that accommodates up to 4 children and young people from aged 8 to 18 years old, male or female with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
At Elizabeth House our ethos is that we believe in inclusivity, child-centred, therapeutic approaches (which are embedded into daily care) and adopt the DDP and PACE models to encourage empowerment for young people within our home. We aim to encourage children and young people to become more confident, empowered and to be in control of the decision-making in their lives.
We believe that children should be involved in the planning and decision-making and their wishes and feelings should be at the forefront of any future planning. Our young people are able to express their views through residents’ meetings, suggestions and within their own individual care plan. Our aim is to ensure that children have a voice and they can work towards effectively communicating their views. We accept all of our children and young people as individuals who are unique and by working in partnership with the child and young people offering a non- judgemental empathetic level of care, we aim to support children and young people to rebuild relationships and be able to function within the home by displaying respect towards others. We will listen to children and offer them bespoke tailored support packages and therapy to meet their needs, work together with our staff and engage them towards making positive choices to enhance their future outcomes.
Elizabeth House is a large six bedroom detached bungalow property. It benefits from ample off road parking, large gardens and a staff annex attached to the main property. There are 4 double bedrooms available for the children, one shower room, one bathroom in the main house and a separate bathroom in the annex. There is a kitchen/breakfast room, living room and separate dining room. The annex also affords a further living space which is utilised for one to one keywork or therapy sessions, visits with family or professionals, and meetings. The bedrooms are light and airy where attention to detail offers a family environment and atmosphere, allowing children to relax in the privacy of their own rooms. Young people will be encouraged to personalise their bedrooms upon arrival into the home. The lounge will offer a place for young people to retreat, watch TV and play and interact with one another. The separate dining room will be used as a space for all children and staff to enjoy evening meals together and to hold weekly residents’ meetings offering young people an opportunity to air their views and respect others opinions.
The home benefits from a large garden offering a great outdoor area for children and young people to dine and relax in. The outdoor space also offers opportunity for outdoor games.
